Pregnancy can
bring so much joy to a family. However, it can also pose
innumerable health risks to the woman and to the baby,
as well. Pregnancy is oftentimes one of the most awaited
events in a woman's life, especially if the woman has
had a hard time trying to conceive. This means that when
a woman is pregnant taking some precautions for health
maintenance is downright required.
Here are some
ways that a pregnant woman can employ to ensure the
health of her baby and her self, too.
Eat well,
conceive well.
It's not true that you have to eat
for two when pregnant. Eating more than the amount of
food that is enough for one person will only cause the
unwanted bloat. According to research, a pregnant woman
will only need an extra 200 to 300 calories per day. And
who knows, you might be already eating those extra
calories. Eating healthy food will do the mother and the
young life inside the mother just right. Of course,
those extra calories should not come from junk food.
Supplement your wellness.
A pregnant mom
should take a vitamin supplement that contains folic
acid, better even before conception and during early
pregnancy. Why folic acid? Because this micro-mineral,
which is found mostly on green leafy vegies, when taken
400 mcg daily before and during early pregnancy, can
reduce the risk of having babies born with neural tube
defects.
Away with your vices.
It could
have been awefully hard for you to quit on your smoking
and frequent alcohol intake. Now is high time for you to
rethink your actions. The nicotine from cigarettes and
alcohol from the alcoholic beverages you consume can
harm your growing baby. Usually, babies from mothers
that have been smoking are born with low average birth
weight, are prone to being born prematurely and may die
from sudden infant death syndrome compared to babies of
non-smoking moms. Caffeine is one substance that should
be avoided, too. So, say ta-ta to your espressos and
brewed fraps for your baby's sake.
Precautions
schmasions.
Even before pregnancy, it won't hurt
to get prenatal care. Making sure that you are immune to
certain diseases that might affect your pregnancy counts
a lot. An example of these diseases that a pregnant
woman should be cautious of is rubella or German
measles. Knowing your blood type will also help you
prepare for any medical condition that you might
encounter during pregnancy.
Exercise properly for
you and your baby.
Exercising is one good way to
help keep a pregnant woman fit, as well as her baby.
However, there are certain conditions that ob-gyne's
need to approve before a pregnant woman can do any
exercise. One of the important forms of exercise that
can be done during pregnancy include those that help
improve the muscles' endurance. Stretching can help a
lot, too. But all of these activities should be done
with ample amount of precaution, of course.
It
all boils down to the fact that if a woman would like to
have a healthy pregnancy, she has to simply have a
healthy lifestyle.

Teeny Weenie Pregnancies
How many times does
a parent have to remind their child about
contraception,and sexually transmitted diseases. What
does it take for a parent to be heard. In some
unfortunate cases children just do not listen and choose
to ignore the best advice any parent can give to their
child.
It is hard for a parent to see their
child having a child. Unwanted pregnancies in teens, a
sad situation but the damage is done so accept the
situation and start to face up to responsibilities
Matters intend to get out of hand by leaving it to
late to consult a doctor or talking to your parents. You
could be putting yourself and that of your unborn child
in danger. If you have any inclinations that you are
pregnant seek help right away.
What is mum and
dad going to say may be causing you unnecessary worry. I
can not say that they will be happy with the news you
are about to spring on them. But remember at the end of
the day this is your mum and what do mums do, they care
and give their support.
No doubt those famous
words will be spoken in a raised voice like, I told you
this would happen and how could you have been so stupid?
But she is right, mum's advice is always right when it
comes down to protecting her kids.
After coming
to terms and accepting that she is going to be a
grandmother the situation eases. Believe me when I say
if ever you needed anyone to give you support throughout
this teenage pregnancy, it is your mum so talk to her.
Contraception is about helping to stop unwanted
pregnancies also STDs are prevented by the use of a
condom. Which would be the worst an unwanted teen
pregnancy or a STD. Let me tell you they both come with
a life sentence of heartache and pain, no more partying
it stops here?
Come on girls and boys this is the
21st century there is no need to destroy your childhood.
I am not saying that every teen pregnancy has not worked
out for some young mums today, but for a great many it
has ruined their lives. Do you want to raise a baby,
especially one that has ruined your life. Will you ever
love that infant in the way you should? Sadly many teen
mums don't so the innocent baby has to suffer.
Most teenage mothers end up raising their child on their
own all because daddy is still growing up too.
Come on girls and boys think of the consequences. If you
choose to ignore all the golden rules then you have to
accept the consequences.
Please have yourself
checked over by a doctor early to make sure that there
are no complications. I do not wish to frighten you,
just make you aware that teen mums that have not fully
reached puberty themselves may need extra care and
attention.
People who deal with these type of
situations are very understanding and compassionate
regarding whatever maybe troubling you about your
pregnancy or any STD concerns..
If you find that
talking on the matter embarrasses you, then ask a friend
to go with you and let them do the talking, and if all
fails in getting you to speak with some one.
Then
consider the next time you recieve your pocket money to
buy a condom not a cornet.
Working Out With
Baby
It is
important for pregnant women to maintain a low-impact
exercise regimen to boost their mood, improve sleep,
reduce aches and pains associated with pregnancy,
strengthens muscles and builds endurance. This helps
their body carry the demands of pregnancy and childbirth
with ease.
pregnancy
Decades ago,
conventional wisdom led women to believe that they were
extremely fragile during pregnancy. This meant halting
all physical activities such as exercise and basically
becoming a couch potato. Thankfully, today women know
better than that.
Exercise does wonders during
pregnancy, because it greatly improves your overall
health and wellbeing. It boosts mood, enhances the
quality of sleep, reduces pregnancy aches and pains, and
prepares you for childbirth by strengthening muscles and
building endurance. This is especially important because
during pregnancy and childbirth, a woman's body is
subjected to a great deal of stress. Exercise also makes
it much easier to get back in shape after your baby's
born, and helps ease constipation, backache, fatigue,
varicose veins, circulation problems and other health
issues related to pregnancy.
The most
recommended exercises for pregnant women are walking,
swimming, yoga, stretching, and low-impact aerobics.
Pelvic exercises called Kegel exercises are also
beneficial to the expectant mother, helping to
strengthen the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor muscles
support the uterus, bowel, and bladder; these body parts
are put under pressure during pregnancy and childbirth.
Before beginning an exercise regimen during
pregnancy, it is important for women to first consult
your healthcare provider. This is to eliminate any
possible medical conditions such as preterm rupture of
membranes, pregnancy-induced hypertension, preterm
labor, persistent second- or third-trimester bleeding,
poor fetal growth, incompetent cervix or multiple-birth
pregnancy which may preclude a pregnant woman from
exercising. Women must also take care not to become
overheated or dehydrated while exercising. An increase
in core body temperatures in early pregnancy can cause
fetal defects, and dehydration in late pregnancy is
associated with premature labor. This can be avoided by
drinking plenty of fluids and wearing loose, comfortable
clothes. You must wear a brassiere providing full
support to the breasts and shoes that provide cushioning
for your foot or joints. A warm-up and cool-down phase
should be included in any exercise regime, with an
emphasis to gentle stretching to prevent muscle strain,
muscle cramps and joint injuries. Knee joints are more
prone to injury because of the pregnancy hormone
relaxin, which softens ligaments and tendons. Avoid
exercises on your back after the first trimester or
whenever you feel dizzy, lightheaded or nauseated
because the weight of your uterus puts pressure on the
vein responsible for returning blood from the lower body
to the heart.
If you already had an exercise
regimen prior to becoming pregnant, you can probably
still work out at the same level during pregnancy, as
long as your body is comfortable and your doctor gives
his blessing. Generally, extremely vigorous physical
activity is not recommended during pregnancy. This
includes contact sports, such as football and
basketball; adventure sports, such as water skiing and
scuba diving; and sports that carry a high risk of
trauma, such as horseback riding and downhill skiing.
The best way to gauge if you are overdoing the exercise
is if you experience symptoms such as chest pains and
vaginal bleeding or uterine contractions. This is your
cue to stop exercising immediately and seek medical
advice.
Many hospitals and fitness centers are
now offering exercise classes especially for pregnant
women, which allow participants not only the opportunity
to exercise but to be in the company of others like
themselves. This lets them share their aches and pains
with someone who really understands how they feel,
therefore building the wide support system which is
important to women. The way you feel and the way you
look during pregnancy and as a new mother depend on how
you take care of yourself during pregnancy regarding
diet and exercise. By eating a sensible diet and by
exercising on a regular basis, you can maintain or
improve your fitness and health during this time when
there are extra demands on your body.
