Your basketball team will be more productive at every game when team morale is high. As a coach or team manager, one way to help build team spirit is by providing custom sports equipment bags for each player. Basketball team bags and other products with the team logo help to bind your team as one organism. Every player can have the same type of sports bag, cap, shirt, jacket, and so forth. Team logo bags help the team players to identify with one another and also help others identify the team as a whole.
Types of Sports Equipment Bags for Basketball
There are several types of team bags for use in basketball practice and games. There are large team logo bags as well as medium or small sizes to fit each player's needs. You might want each player to have various sizes of bags to accommodate for games at home or away, and for practice.
Probably the most popular type of bags for sports teams are duffle bags. These are easy to carry and have ample room for carrying shoes, a change of clothes, and even personal hygiene items. Larger bags are available for traveling or for carrying team equipment. There are also bags in various shapes and sizes for those who dare to be different. These may resemble backpacks with a bottle pouch and several other fancy pouches. They are shaped different than duffle bags, so carrying these bags might be a bit awkward.
What to Look for in a Basketball Sports Equipment Bag
When buying team player bags, be sure to go for durability and convenience. The team bags should be large enough to carry the necessary items for games and for traveling when playing out of town. Look for quality bag materials such as thick canvas or nylon. The bags should feature stitch reinforcements at stress points to minimize wear and tear. Also, look for high quality zippers that are easy to use. Team duffle bags should come with hand straps and a shoulder strap for easy carrying. Some team bags have a removable shoulder strap as well as separate zipper pouches for carrying shoes.
Also consider the colors and type of screen-printing available. Most sports equipment bag companies will offer a discount on large quantities. Logo screen-printing usually requires a one-time fee for set up, and you must provide a printer-ready copy of the team logo. Choose team bag colors to complement your logo. Some popular colors include navy, black, blue, red, green, yellow, maroon, and white.
Team player bags for basketball teams can also be personalized with the names of the players for an extra charge per bag. This can help prevent mix-ups with bags during sporting events.
You can order basketball sports equipment bags online easily and get great deals on large quantity orders, but be sure to consider shipping and set-up charges. Before ordering, ask your team players what color they would prefer and what type of bag would work best for them. Their input will be helpful in finding the perfect bags for your sports team! Use custom sports equipment bags to help every team player feel special game after game.

The franchise for the Lakers was first started in Detroit before it was moved to Minneapolis. That is when the team received the famous title that they are known for and which the state is nicknamed - Land of the 10,000 Lakes. The infamous team won 5 different league championships before the were than moved to Los Angeles.
The Lakers team was first created back in 1944 when Morris Chalfen and Ben Berger decided that they were going to purchase the Detroit Gems (a part of the National Basketball League) for a total of $15. Because the Gems had the worst record of all the teams in the NBL - the Lakers were able to be the first to pick out the players they needed from the 1947 dispersal draft from the Professional Basketball League of America. From this draft they chose George Mikan who later in life became one of the basketball’s greatest center. With the help of coach John Kundla the Lakers team was able to the NBL championship during the ‘47-’48 season. It was during this time that they were selected along with three other teams to compete in the Basketball Association of America. From this they won the ‘48-’49 BAA championship.
George Mikan wasn’t the only player that would help to bring greatness to the Lakers. Vern Mikkelsen, Slater Martin, Jim Pollard, and Clyde Lovellette all played big roles and together with George Mikan they all reached the NBA Hall of Fame during the years of 1949, 1950, 1952, 1953, and 1954. When the team moved to Los Angeles in 1960 their game only got better. It was than that Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, and Gail Goodrich all made their way into the Hall of Fame also.
Even with this success the Lakers they always seemed to be thwarted by one team - the Boston Celtics. They went up against this team six times and each time they lost the championship. It wasn’t until the late 1970’s, early 1980’s that they would finally take the championship away from the Boston Celtics and become the most dominant team in the NBA.
Fans were sure that the Lakers would finally secure their win against the Celtics in 1972 when Bill Sharman had taken charge of the team. Sharman was one of the best coach (he won Coach of the Year award) and together with his best player - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - the team seemed unstoppable. Yet, the Lakers were still unable to win a championship. That is until Earvin “Magic” Johnson joined the team. In 1979 Johnson (who at the time was only a rookie) had to take over for the injured Abdul-Jabbar and made an amazing 42 points, 7 assists, and 15 rebounds to secure the championship.
Under Coach Pat Riley the Lakers were able to head to the championship finals eight times during the 1980's. They won 5 of those championships out of 8.
Even though they were able to make it once again to the championship finals in 1991 they spent most of the 1990’s playing against teams that most did not consider to be legitimate title contenders. Things started to look up for them in 1996 when they signed on the rookie from the Charlotte Hornets - Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

Every basketball team's goal is to improve their skills or their game and play well. It is important that the team has confidence before they set foot on the floor or court. But how can the team acheive confidence? The answer is preparation. Through preparation, the team gains confidence. The team can prepare through practice. Practicing skills and team plays can make the team confident to face any situation that they should encounter in an actual game.
In making a basketball team play you need a diagram to represent the court or floor, some chips or a marker to place the positions of the players, who are given a specific number or color of chips. This is used to explain the flow of the play so the team players know how to act or where to go during specific team plays. Extensive knowledge of the game itself, tactics and rules is also essential. In order to facilitate the discussion, everyone concerned should bear in mind that the strong side means that it is the side of the court where the basketball is and the weaker side is the one without the basketball.
This is where names such as John Stockton, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash come into play. These are some of the most skilled basketball players in terms of playmaking. While the coach is in charge of teaching how plays should be made, the point guard has the primary task to make sure that these are properly executed during the game.
Offensive Plays are used when the team has the possession of the ball. The focus of this play is to score. Plays of this kind increase the chances of the players, such as the point guard, to make the basket and score. Examples of this play are 1-3-1 offensive plays, 1-4 formation offensive plays, zone formation offensive plays, triangle offense formation and man to man offense.
The offensive team that will do these offensive plays is composed of five players with corresponding titles and numbers: The point guard (1), the shooting guard (2), the forward guard (3), the power guard (4) and the center (5). The point guard directs the offensive play on the court. The shooting guard is the best outside shooter and usually takes the shot that allows the basketball to make the basket, he should know the right timing for scoring. The small forward guard moves quickly and effectively and keeps the ball away from the defensive team. They can also drive to take a shot or do jump shots anywhere. The power forward is the best inside shooter, which shoots well from underneath the basket or on its corners. The center is the tallest member of the team and does the rebounds and plays with his back almost facing the basket all the time.
Defensive plays are used by the team when they prevent the ball from making the basket by guarding the basket themselves and the players as well so that scoring won't be successful. The focus of this play is to prevent the other team from scoring by trying to steal the ball or disrupting the flow of play of the team that has ball possession.
Plays of this kind puts pressure on the players who have ball possession making them vulnerable. The defending team players use this situation to their advantage and stop the ball from making it to the basket or making it possible to steal the ball from their hands. Examples of this play are the zone defense and the 2-3 zone defense.
Team players should possess characteristics when they are on the defensive play. Quickness is a quality that can be applied to the hands and feet. Swift movements are necessary to help defensive steal the ball from the offensive team. Strong legs can be helpful in doing repetitive quick jumps. Focus on the game is necessary and they should always be aware since they will read and observe the offensive play so they can use it to their advantage.
This will help the defensive team members to react quickly and appropriately. Defensive team members should be flexible and able to do different kinds of defensive plays depending on the situation.
They should be able to apply defensive skills on both weak and strong sides of the court. Understanding of the strategies and concepts of the game helps them make right decisions based on the situation. Good communication is essential for teamwork because if they work together on the floor, the offensive team will have a difficult time scoring.
Practicing the basic basketball skills as well as the offensive and defensive plays helps a team prepare for a game. When you are prepared to face the battle during a basketball game, worries can be set aside and confidence is gained. These are the secrets to playing a good game and playing it right. Winning and being a champion is possible if these things are kept in mind.
