Exercise and Your
We all know that exercise is good for us. It helps us stay trim, tones our muscles and boosts our energy. But did you know that working out can actually help give you the complexion you’ve always wanted?
It’s true--regular exercise nourishes the skin all over the body with fresh blood, nutrients and oxygen. At the same time, the increased blood flow and circulation that come with working out helps to draw toxins out of the body, improving the condition of all your vital organs, the epidermis included.
Many people think that sweat can trigger acne flare-ups. In fact, sweating is great for congested skin--it promotes the flushing of impurities from the epidermal layer and cleans out the pores. Moreover, vigorous exercise actually corrects the hormonal imbalances that can trigger blemishes, thus reducing the likelihood of outbreaks. How? Any physical routine that you enjoy--yoga, running, biking, spinning, pilates, boxing, etc.--lessens the stress you encounter on a daily basis, helping to prevent stress-related acne.
Exercise may not be a miracle cure-all--you may still experience breakouts from time to time--but your acne will almost certainly be less severe and of a shorter duration.
Exercise is also wonderful for other skin conditions that may not have to do with acne at all. Are you worried about your skin losing its elasticity or becoming thinner and less resilient? This is a common problem for many of us as we age. As we grow older we start to lose collagen, making us look gaunt or tired. Physical activity can actually promote the growth of collagen in your skin cells, plumping up your facial skin and making you look younger and more vibrant.
And if you’re worried about wrinkles, consider this: the relaxation that comes after a vigorous bout of exercise has the effect of making your muscles, facial muscles included, soften up. That means your lines will appear less pronounced, contributing to the youthful look you are trying to cultivate.
A smaller waist, better muscle tone, softer skin, fewer blemishes and an overall younger and fresher look? There’s really not any reason not to exercise on a regular basis!

You know that too much alcohol and smoking can dehydrate and take oxygen away from your skin, risking its health, right? You know that sitting in the sun too long can damage your skin and that by not getting enough rest, relaxation, and exercise your skin can suffer too, don't you? Did you also know that by not eating the proper foods you could be damaging your skin as well?
Here are some foods that can help you maintain healthy skin and nourish skin that's been damaged:
Fish, Beans and Oils
Many of you have heard me preach of the vital role essential fatty acids play with aging skin, as EFA’s are required to maintain skin elasticity. Denying your body of the 'good' fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids, can cause your skin to wrinkle prematurely. Good sources of EFA’s in your diet are fish, especially salmon, and nuts like almonds and sunflower seeds. The best sources of EFA’s also come in flax seed oil, coconut oil and borage oil, which can be incorporated into your cooking or as a daily supplement.
Got acne? Spinach and other dark green vegetables are antioxidants that can reduce the inflammation of pimples, and orange vegetables such as carrots and peppers, are high in beta-carotene, which turns into Vitamin A in your body to heal damaged skin. Winter vegetables are packed with beta-carotene. I encourage you to stock up on your squash. Your skin will love you for it!
Blackberries, plums, strawberries, blueberries and prunes are all included in the group of fruits that can help you keep your system toxic-free, and thus help your skin look radiant and healthy! Be sure not to throw out wilted veggies & spent fruit. Simply puree them in your blender, making your own alpha-hydroxy, anti-aging face wash! Turkey and Chicken (White Meat)
Your skin's cells cannot be repaired without protein. Don't or can't eat meat? Nuts! No, I mean eat nuts for protein. You can also substitute meat with egg whites or soy products to get the protein you need as well.
Water, Water, and More Water
If there is any substance in the world that your body just can't get enough of, it's water. Since your body consists of approximately 80% water, it only makes sense that you need to replenish the water in your body, especially if you exercise a lot or live in a dry climate. Sodas and caffeinated drinks dehydrate your skin. If drinking water is challenging, slices of cucumber or oranges with mint sprigs create a refreshing spa beverage that you can keep refrigerated or fill up your sports bottle when on the go.
It is true that you are what you eat, so eat well, live well, and look totally awesome! Be sure to visit your local farmer’s markets or natural food grocers for organic foods, free of hormones and pesticides. By doing so you’re eating optimal quality foods and supporting a sustainable environment.

We all know about fads, styles, and adornments that are "in" one season and "out" the next. This includes cosmetics, hair styles, clothing, and even body weight and size.
These standards may vary from country to country, year to year, or even among different age groups in the same country and year. For example, full figures are considered the ideal in some historical periods, but slender figures are valued now--at least in Western countries.
The point is that cultural standards change--and we may choose to follow or ignore them--because the cultivation of natural Beauty, Good Looks, Grace & Charm is not dependent upon fads.
In order to get along harmoniously, whether at the level of dating, courtship, or marriage, men and women have to get past physical looks and into the more important qualities that make up human relationships,such as kindness, friendship, and areas of mutual interest.
There is such a thing as a beautiful personality. There can be Beauty, Good Looks, Grace & Charm in the way a person thinks. An attitude or smile can be beautiful. Love is certainly beautiful, and all of life is beautiful when we are in love.
A person is truly beautiful when he or she is healthy. Any disease or illness affects all parts of the body, sometimes for many years before the symptoms are manifested. If the body and mind are not healthy, then a person cannot feel or be truly attractive.
Good health brings a glow to the skin, a ring to the voice, a twinkle to the eye, and a spring to the step that no Beauty, Good Looks, Grace & Charm school can teach.
