For people who want to have a loved one undergo drug testing or for anyone who just wants to go through a drug testing, here are some highly important points to take note of when it comes to drug testing and substance abuse. It really is high time for people all across the United States, even the entire world, to really put some greater importance on the life threatening risks that are involved when it comes to Drugs, Medicine & Pill and various other substance abuses.

Some general information about the detection of drug abuse from drug testing: as compared to having a drug testing wherein they will take samples of the patient’s blood, it is highly recommended that the medical technicians just use the patient’s urine as the urine has been proven to be actually more reliable when it comes to the detection of any drug abuse. Unfortunately, it also a more expensive kind of drug testing. However, even if it is fairly easy for medical technicians to see whether or not a person has taken in some harmful Drugs, Medicine & Pill into one’s system.

A urine drug testing, as goes with the blood drug testing, would not be able to provide the medical technicians with other relevant information with regards to the drug testing. Whether or not the patient is under the influence of the drug at a specific time is most unlikely to be determined by the urine drug testing.

Blood testing, however, in spite of being the lesser choice when it comes to drug testing will actually be able to help the medical technicians to obtain some more relevant information on whether or not the individual is actually under the influence of Drugs, Medicine & Pill during the time that he or she went through the drug testing. Although some experts say that this may tend to not be conclusive in all cases.

Another drug testing technique nowadays is through hair testing which is actually not recommended because a lot of laboratories are actually finding some difficulty with regards to the reliability of the results especially, as most often than not, drug testing through the hair usually poses “positive” results for the patient. A lot of people don’t buy into this kind of drug testing since with the simple act of washing one’s hair as well as being subjected to other hair “contaminants” can the patient actually saves his or herself from being detected with any substance abuse.

The laboratories that usually perform this kind of drug testing do not really have the ability to confirm the reliability as well as the accuracy of their hair testing’s results. This can actually put lawyers who are defending a person who is said to have been under substance abuse in a precarious situation wherein the evidence to be presented in court may really not be that reliable. The urine drug testing’s accuracy is also highly dependent on how the drug testing procedure has been carried out by the medical technician.

It is important to note that drug testing will only be extremely reliable and accurate if and only if every aspect of the drug testing process are done with much care. When mishandling happens, there is the great chance that the results of the drug testing may actually be inaccurate and unreliable. This is why when it comes to drug testing, the people who are going through with it should be fully aware of how the drug testing process should be appropriately done as well as exercise one’s assertiveness by demanding that the clinic which is conducting the drug testing has to do it properly and according to the systems standards.

Unfortunately, most especially during this time wherein more and more people are getting lured into doing Drugs, Medicine & Pill as well as other substance abuse, a lot of the clinics that are conducting drug testing all over the United States are not really capable of providing the reliable results that people need due to the rampant mishandling and as well as the improper way that some clinics conduct their drug testings. Therefore, the top three most reliable aspects that people should need to look for in a drug test for it be considered as reliable: strict collection procedures, proper testing procedures and random notification.

Random drug and alcohol testing

Random drug and alcohol screening is used by many UK companies to deter the use or abuse of illegal Drugs, Medicine & Pill and / or alcohol by employees within the workplace. There have been a large number of case studies to demonstrate how effective random screening is in reducing accidents, absenteeism, ill health, litigation, etc.

Random drug and alcohol screening is used by many UK companies to deter the use or abuse of illegal Drugs, Medicine & Pill and / or alcohol by employees within the workplace. There have been a large number of case studies to demonstrate how effective random screening is in reducing accidents, absenteeism, ill health, litigation, etc, and as a result it is frequently considered to be best practice, especially in safety critical environments.

Even when a business doesn't introduce full random drug testing, they often choose to conduct testing when there is a problem - such as incident or accident based screening or "for cause" testing when there are sufficient grounds to suspect that an employee is not fit to perform their duties due to drink or illegal Drugs, Medicine & Pill.

How often random drug and alcohol testing should be carried out can be determined by the business based upon a number of factors. Such factors include the nature of the business, demographics of their staff or factors relating to the culture of the business – for example, a culture of lunchtime drinking.

Some companies carry out as little as 5 percent random testing (i.e. only 5% of staff are drug tested just once per year after being randomly selected), whereas other businesses may insist that every employee is screened at least once annually or more. It really depends upon the cost, certain health and safety considerations and their own drive to enforce a drug and alcohol free workplace.

Substance abuse screening in the workplace is relatively straight forward to implement and can be put into place without much expense when done correctly. Random testing of company employees can be carried out on-site for less than £10 per employee.

All a company needs to do is formulate a drug and alcohol policy - which is basically the business's views on Drugs, Medicine & Pill and alcohol, what is deemed acceptable, what isn't, and what are the consequences of breaking the rules - along with procedural information. Many companies have consultation with staff and union representatives to be sure that the company policy was developed with input from all concerned parties.

If companies find this process to be too time consuming or complex for your managers, we can develop your policy for you as consultants, or review your current draft policy to ensure that it is completely legally defensible and user friendly. Our years of experience really can make a significant difference to your company policy and allows you to implement it as fast as possible.

When you have a finished drug and alcohol policy, it is time to issue a copy of this to your employees along with an implementation date. As long as the start date for the policy is further away than their contractual notice period, when the start date arrives, the policy has become part of all employees' terms and conditions of employment. At this point, if it is your policy that employees undergo random drug / alcohol screening or testing in accident / incident or "for cause" situations, then failure to comply constitutes a failure to undertake a reasonable request - which may have disciplinary consequences up to and including dismissal.

Ultimately, it should be every employer’s goal to remove the substance from the individual, rather than the individual from the workplace, so assistance for those who come forward to seek it is vital.

To reinforce a drug and alcohol testing policy it is a good idea to train managers in drug and alcohol awareness so that they can spot the signs and symptoms of drug misuse and understand how to deal with the situation should it arise. The majority of our business customers choose a half day of training for their managers.

Random Drug Testing in our Schools

Drug use amongst young people is an increasing trend, yet the public perception of the suitability / effectiveness of random Drugs, Medicine & Pill testing at school is relatively uncertain. This article contains statistics and the results of several important studies.

Drug use amongst young people is an increasing trend, yet the public perception of the suitability / effectiveness of random Drugs, Medicine & Pill testing at school is relatively uncertain. Such testing takes place quite rarely in the UK, in spite of it being a more common practice in the USA.

The average starting age for heroin use in many cities in the UK is just 15, and a survey of over 20,000 UK school children showed that 9% of 13 year olds and over a quarter (27%) of 15 year olds had used an illegal drug at some point in their lives. So there is clearly a need for more assertive intervention at an early age.

Parents face the growing concern that their teenager may already be taking Drugs, Medicine & Pill, or that they are in an environment where they are exposed to those who will offer them Drugs, Medicine & Pill, especially Cannabis / Marijuana. The frightening reality is that this environment may be their school.

In order to learn more about drug use (and in particular Cannabis / Marijuana supply and young people), 182 young people who were Cannabis / Marijuana users aged between 11 and 19 were interviewed for a study published in January 2008 by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. The sample included both city dwellers and young people from rural villages. Half of the young people had taken cannabis into school or college and 43 per cent said that they used cannabis whilst at school or college. It is clear from the report that the majority of these young people purchase cannabis from their friends or relatives and in turn supply their friends in a new wave of ‘social’ and ‘not-for-profit’ drug-taking which is a departure from the typical dealer-user scenario. One young interviewee told researchers that the people who sold her Cannabis / Marijuana included ‘friends from school’ and shows how combining drug-use with normal social networking is having the effect of normalising the act of taking Drugs, Medicine & Pill.

However, a recent study by Neil McKeganey, Professor of Drug Misuse Research at Glasgow University, demonstrates that random drug testing in schools is a more complex and controversial issue than one would at first imagine. Questions arise over matters including cost, ethical issues such as what would happen in the event that a pupil tested positive for Drugs, Medicine & Pill and what ‘punishment’ or deterrent would be appropriate, concerns that pupils may switch from easily detectable Drugs, Medicine & Pill to more harmful Drugs, Medicine & Pill in order to avoid detection, and the probability that a trusting relationship between staff and pupil would be damaged and encourage a culture of concealment. Furthermore, it is possible that enforcing random drug testing of pupils would conflict with the UN Charter on the Rights of the Child or the European Charter on Human Rights.

Whilst acknowledging the obvious need for drug prevention, it appears that further research and data collection is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of drug screening within schools.

In spite of this, results from an ICM Research poll which previously appeared in the News of the World on Sunday demonstrated that 82% of parents and 66% of children support drug testing in schools and of the 1,000 parents surveyed, 96% said they would want to know if their son or daughter was taking Drugs, Medicine & Pill.

So what can be done?

In the absence of a drug-testing programme at school or college, anxious parents, guardians or caregivers who have concerns about teenagers or young people using Drugs, Medicine & Pill are able to conduct a drug test in the privacy of the home. These home drug test kits are used daily by professionals in the healthcare industry and one test can provide easy to read results in minutes for a variety of different Drugs, Medicine & Pill. This includes the most common Drugs, Medicine & Pill, such as Cannabis / Marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Benzodiazepines, Opiates, Methadone and Methamphetamines (including ecstasy).
