Beach shoes have evolved significantly over the last few years beach, shoes, sea Beach shoes have evolved significantly over the last few years. Gone are the days when flip-flops and Birkenstock’s (remember that not all Birkenstock’s are waterproof so choose the ones you’ll wear to the beach wisely) were your only option. Though who can really live without a nice comfy pair of Birkenstock’s or 12? Today there are all kinds of shoes made specifically to wear to the beach.
From netted athletic shoes made for running and walking just along the edge of the water to jelly shoes, flip-flops, and dozens of varieties in between it is now more than ever possible to not only have shoes that are practical to wear to the beach, but fashion, pattern, trend and styleable in this endeavor as well.
Shoes say a lot about the wearer, there is really no exception for beach shoes. Any old flip-flops say the wearer isn’t very concerned about their foot fashion, pattern, trend and style. Of course there are flip-flops with embellishments that make them a little more fashion, pattern, trend and styleable than the dollar store variety. A nice pair of Birkenstock’s says the wearer is wisely more concerned with quality and comfort than following trends. Impractical beach shoes or those that are likely to need repairs after coming into contract with water and/or sand say the owner has more money than sense. And shoes that are funky and fashion, pattern, trend and styleable and
made for the beach say the wearer is fashion, pattern, trend and styleably chic.
When choosing the right beach shoes for you it is important that you consider what your beachside activities are going to be. If you want to run along the shoreline, you might want to purchase a pair of the beach friendly athletic shoes that are relatively new. If you want to be fashion, pattern, trend and styleable go for some of the trendy
shoes, if you want the ultimate in comfort go for a nice pair of Birkenstock’s, and flip-flops are always an old fall back that have been the shoe of choice of beach goers for ages.

Big and chunky beaded necklaces are still the focus of this summer. Two schools exist at the same time: organic earth tone beads and colorful and fun tone beads. Organic beads include bone and onyx necklaces. A more prevalent style is the eye-catching colored wood bead necklaces.
Parallel to the bulky necklaces, designers are fond of enormous finger rings with big faceted gemstones this summer. Bold and sparkling solitaire rings with a huge center stone set on large prongs seem to be the norm in most part of Europe this year. An extremely thick band with many small stones set on pave settings is another popular style that you might want to keep an eye on. Well, you get the idea, just be BOLD.
As for earrings, trends are in linear or fringy styles this year. Dangle earrings with geometric designs incorporating loops and chains is the way to go. In fact, these are similar to the chandelier earrings that have been super hot for almost two years.
Bracelets are a little overshadowed by necklaces this year. Simple charm bracelets are back in trend. Charm bracelets with murano glass or natural gemstones would complete the summer outfit in a nice way.
The main jewelry metal color for this year is gold color. Also, deep browns, khakis, bright reds, oranges, off-whites, and light beiges are the primary stone and

Trends For Kids
The biggest trend for 2006 is that kids are more fashion, pattern, trend and style-conscious—at earlier ages. You may have seen those ads for Old Navy —“Get your Fash’ On”? They’re aimed at pre-teens—who are absorbing the message. Many of us didn’t care about fashion, pattern, trend and style until we hit high school—until then, we wore whatever T-shirts, jeans, shirts, sweatshirts, and other things our parents bought us or our older siblings handed down. Today, kids as young as eight or nine are brand-conscious and trend-aware, shopping for cohesive outfits instead of just throwing on whatever’s clean. Here are just some of the brands and trends your youngsters craved over 2006.
The 80’s Are Back. You may have noticed a trend this year for skinny jeans, ballet-slipper-inspired shoes, leggings under skirts, oversized tees, and big hoop earrings. This is a look that appeals to young girls—it’s whimsical and yet stylish at the same time. Trendy tweens in 2006 went for the Flashdance look in a big way.
Crib Rock Couture. This company mixes traditional nursery rhymes with edgy style to give a unique, creative and entertaining take on kids’ clothing. The brand is extremely popular among celebrities—Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck, and more are all known to dress their kids in these clothes.
Dress Like a Pirate. Pirate fashion, pattern, trend and style inspired by the hit movie Pirates of the Caribbean was big this year. Horizontal stripes, fringed edges, bright colors, and beading were all the rage among younger pre-tweens.
Loads of Layers. Layering is a big fashion, pattern, trend and style trend among young adults that’s been around for a while, and the kid fashion, pattern, trend and style world is starting to emulate it. Girls are picking up camisoles, layering several different shirts, sweaters and button-downs. Trendy kids are also incorporating scarves and knit ponchos, and leggingsunder skirts for a look that’s more sophisticated than the typical jeans-and-a-sweater warm weather looks of past decades.
Bohemian Chic. With stars like Mary Kate Olsen and Sienna Miller as role models, young girls went for the flowy, flowery Bohemian Chic look in a big way this past year. This look involves long, flowing skirts; earthy tones combined with antique colors like dusty rose and muted sage; lots of contrasts in texture; Ethnic-inspired prints; and chunky, handmade-looking jewelry.
Rock Edge. Rock-inspired tees for boys have been a big trend ever since Angelina Jolie’s son, Shiloh, made an appearance in People Magazine wearing one from Kingsley. These tees are vintage-looking, faded and distressed. Boys tend to like baggy pants, but the look is a tad more sophisticated when paired with some dark, straight-leg fitted jeans or a pair of skater-boy long shorts.
Vintage Casual. A little softer than the rock-edge look, but still along the same theme, boys loved the vintage casual look this year—it looks cool without “trying too hard,” and it’s comfortable, too. Pre-worn, pre-distressed and faded-looking tees with old-fashion, pattern, trend and styleed logos are a mainstay of this look, worn under button-downs left unbuttoned and untucked for that casual, relaxed look. Cargo pants and worn-in, relaxed-fit jeans are a natural pairing.
Expect kids to become brand-conscious earlier and earlier into 2007—they’re noticing what their older peers wear, and they want to look the same. There are lots of ways young kids can look cool and still wear age-appropriate clothes.
