The Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake world is full of people who just throw down hard earned money without thinking about what they are doing. Are you one of those people who will just go with the flow? If so, you are most likely a losing gambler or you are not winning as much money as you could be. There are three main factors that make up every successful gambler: money management, value and knowledge. This article will take a look at all these of these areas and help you become a sharp gambler.

Money Management

It’s amazing how many people gamble and don’t think, for even one second, about money management. You wouldn’t go on a trip without thinking about what you want to do right? Then why gamble without a goal? When you go on a trip, is your goal to simply go on a trip? Of course it’s not. You at least decide on a destination, time of stay and so forth.

Before you gamble, you should have some goals in mind. Here’s a quick list of a couple goals you want to define.

1.What is your total bankroll for the Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake session?
2.If I am ahead $X, I will leave.
3.If I lose X% of my bankroll, I will leave or I will leave once my bankroll is gone.
4.I will devote most of my time to playing [ insert game ].
5.While playing [ insert game ], my average bet will be around $x.

Defining these five goals will help you keep organized and focused.

The sharp gambler stay way from bets that are for suckers. He or she is only concerned with getting good value. Here’s a list of key bets and activities to stay away from.

1.Slot Machines – The payback percentage is poor.
2.Roulette – Huge house advantage.
3.Proposition bets in Craps.
4.Parlay cards in sports betting that contain a large amount of selections.
5.The insurance bet in Blackjack.
6.The tie bet in Baccarat.
7.Caribbean Stud Poker, which has a large house advantage.

There’s no law against playing the above items from time to time, but you have to do it in moderation and not make these items part of your main betting activities.

This is one of those factors that separate the long-term winning gamblers from the consistently losing gamblers. If you are going to wager on something, you should know all you can about it. Study the game, learn the tricks and understand everything about it. By being knowledgeable in the game, you will know how to maximize your wagers and your time.

Pick a game you want to play and follow this guide to become a guru.

1.First, research the game by typing in the name at your local search engine. Look for how-to-play articles, tips and strategy. You will find many free resources out there.
2.Find an online casino that offers play money games and go practice what you have learned. If are learning about sports betting or horse racing, find a sports book to get odds from and play bet.
3.Visit your bookstore and look for books on the subject. Sit down at the store and read a little.

Keep reading and searching for the area(s) you like and soon you will become a very sharp player. Knowledge is power, especially in the Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake world.

By improving yourself in these three areas, you will have a great possibility of winning more consistently and you will have more fun because you are organized, focused and education.

Last time we spoke, I started to share with you my 7 tips to becoming a smart gambler. To recap, we went over three vital smart Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake tips-knowing the house edge, establishing a bankroll, and always taking possession of your money.

Today, I'll continue on this great journey of ours. We all should strive to be smart gamblers. The last 4 smart Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake tips will fly at you fast, so get ready. And remember, these are just primers to get you started. If you're super serious, you could go deeper. For instance, you could read an entire book's worth of information on bankroll alone. Here are smart Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake tips 3 - 7:

3. Know thy game

Don't play any casino game seriously unless you know it really well. It's one thing to spend a few bucks while learning or just having fun, but it's another to play it over and over without knowing the fine details of odds, strategy, etc.

4. Know more than one game

It's fine to “specialize” in one game, but you should know two games or more well. There will be times when it's smart to walk away from a game. Maybe your head just isn't working well at that time or the game is too hot the wrong way.

5. Slots are for fun

Show me one player that's played slots a ton and has won a lot and I'll show you either someone that happened to get lucky by hitting a very large jackpot or a liar. Slots are for fun, not profit. There's nothing wrong with enjoying them in doses, but don't make this your main game.

6. A tip is a loss

This is for the guys and gals playing in the real world. It's a common courtesy for players to tip good dealers or the cocktail waitress. This is fine, but it's money lost, so you need to treat it as such. If you're playing $1 Blackjack and you're up $10 when the cocktail waitress comes around think for a minute. If you tip $1, you've just lost 10% of your profits. I'm not saying don't tip, but you need to keep it relative. And all money out is money lost-good cause or not.

7. Love what you do

It doesn't matter if Baccarat (House Bet) is the best bet in the house if the game bores you to tears. You've got to love what you're doing. If not, you'll get mentally lazy and that's when money is lost for sure. Stick with your passions. And there you go. That's 7 solid tips to becoming a smart gambler.

Are You Becoming a Compulsive Gambler?

Compulsive Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake is an illness similar to alcoholism. If you think you may be a compulsive gambler, please seek help.

Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake, gamblers, money, losses, gambler, chasing, loss, loans, loan, escape, order, chasing losses, self-esteem, really, compulsive

Gamblers who fall in love with the excitement and "action" of Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake may, at first, be quite successful. They have fantasies of further success and of Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake becoming their personal path to wealth and power. Those who are headed for problems think they are smarter than the average bettor. They know that Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake is going to work for them because they, unlike less clever people, really understand how to beat the system.

As they become more involved in Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake, they derive an increasing portion of their self-esteem from seeing themselves as smart or lucky. Because of this, two things happen when they do incur the inevitable losses. First, they suffer monetary loss. Second, and often more important, they suffer a deflated ego.

To salvage their self-esteem, they rationalize losses by blaming other people, such as the jockey or the pitcher, or by blaming "bad luck" in cards, craps or lotteries. Or they reflect on their handicapping abilities and tell themselves they will not make the same "mistake" the next time.

The monetary loss is another matter, however, and this is dealt with differently. In order to recoup the loss, many gamblers "chase." That is, they continue their betting and increase the amount of their bets in order to get even. Instead of saying, "It's lost," the chaser says, "I'll get even tomorrow." Chasing losses leads the gambler to gamble with more than he or she can afford to lose, and often to borrowing money in an effort to get even.

Many gamblers may chase for short periods, until they learn from bitter experience that this is counterproductive. The long-term preoccupation with chasing losses is the defining characteristic of the pathological gambler.

Chasing seems logical to many gamblers, as it means giving oneself a chance to get even.

If a gambler stops chasing, both money and self-esteem are lost. If the gambler continues chasing and wins, both can be regained. There is, therefore, the impetus to borrow in order to recoup losses. When continued Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake leads to still more losses, the compulsive gambler continues to borrow. The more money borrowed, the greater the commitment to more Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake as the only possible means of gaining enough money to pay off the debt.

This spiraling commitment to increased Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake often depletes family resources. Many compulsive gamblers cash in joint savings bonds, empty checking accounts, pawn joint property, and take out loans without the spouse's knowledge. In order to preserve or regain respectability in the eyes of parents, spouse and others -- and because their paychecks are insufficient -- desperate gamblers see more Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake as the only alternative.

Fearing loss of respectability, the gambler hides loans. When gamblers default on the loans, fear that the bank or loan company will tell their spouse may drive them to more Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake as a possible quick way out. The behavior that caused the problem is increasingly seen by the gambler as the only solution, as there is no other way to get the needed money quickly.

As loans come due and pressures to pay become more insistent, sometimes involving threats of exposure or of physical harm from loan sharks or bookies, desperate gamblers weigh the risks of "borrowing" (embezzling) money from their employer, making fraudulent loan applications or insurance claims, or stealing the money.

Once they succumb to this temptation, the threshold to an even greater commitment to Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake has been crossed. This is especially true if they obtain money by loan fraud or embezzlement. These kinds of crimes enable gamblers to rationalize that they are not really criminals. The money is only "borrowed" so no one is being hurt. But there is constant pressure to repay the money, and counting on a big Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake win is seen as the only hope for doing so. This extends the spiral of involvement from more Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake to more and more illegal activities -- until the gambler is caught, seeks professional help, or really does hit the big win.

Falling in love with the "action" and then chasing losses is the starting point for most men who become compulsive gamblers, but many women take a different route. While women also enjoy the "action" and chase losses, their initial motivation is often escape -- escape from memories of unhappy childhood or parental abuse, escape from troubled husbands, and escape from loneliness. Once they became hooked on Gambling, Raffle, Lotto & Sweepstake, however, women follow the same spiral of increasing involvement as men, often leading to criminal activity.
