Water Gardens: Today, Yesterday And Tomorrow

You might have only dreamt you could have a water garden, perhaps with a luminous fountain. Now you can easily have one purchasing some or all of the materials. It takes planning and effort, but the end result will transform your backyard landscape into a place of serenity and spectacular beauty.

You might have only dreamt you could have a water garden, perhaps with a luminous fountain. Now you can easily have one purchasing some or all of the materials. It takes planning and effort, but the end result will transform your backyard landscape into a place of serenity and spectacular beauty.

Water Gardens Are Made From Many Things

The sparkle of a stream, the splashing of a fountain, the glimpse of golden fish, the delicate petals of a water lily-all these and more are reasons to add water to your landscape and water garden.

A water garden can be as simple as a wooden tub or as elaborate as a stream with bridges, waterfalls and pools of exotic plants and fish. It can be a formal fountain tiered fountain like, http://www.garden-fountains.com/Detail.bok?no=1072,
centered in a patio, or a pool so natural your guests will assume it's always been there. And most water features–no matter what type you choose–are terrific do-it-yourself projects.

Water Gardens Have History

Water gardens were favorites of the Moors, for whom water was a symbol of life and purity. They positioned cooling fountains, http://www.garden-fountains.com/Detail.bok?no=65,
in the middle of their formal courtyards to signify the primacy of water. Early Asians, too, valued water gardens as an aid to meditation and delighted in breeding rare fish. In ancient times, Chinese nobility would spend their afternoons lolling in small boats on water gardens while servants floated tea-filled cups to them on lily pads. For Renaissance Italians, water was a toy. They loved ornate fountains and whimsical sprays-some designed to squirt unsuspecting strollers-and installed them throughout their estates.

Water Gardens Are Popular Today

Today, water gardens once again have grown in popularity, even in our humbler yards. Like the gardeners before them, modern homeowners find that water features are beautiful and peaceful additions to the landscape. Unlike the past, today's gardeners have better tools and materials with which to build their water gardens. Flexible and preformed liner materials, for example, have revolutionized garden fountains and scaled down installation.

Water Gardening & Landscaping, Planting, Cultivating is easier than ever, and even if you're an amateur, building a water garden pond today is limited less by your wallet than it is by your imagination.

What Garden Furniture Should I Buy?

The differences between Metal & Wooden Garden Furniture. What to choose, and why cheap, does not always save money!

Garden Furniture, Teak Garden Furniture, Aluminium Garden Furniture, UK Garden Furniture, Cane Furniture, Conservatory Furniture, UK Conservatory Furniture

When it comes to selecting Garden Furniture, or Patio Furniture, it is important to remember that it will probably be left outside in all weathers, so it must be able to stand up to extreme changes of temperatures. You may think that all Garden Furniture is built to last, but un-fortunately that is NOT the case. Buying cheap Garden Furniture is very often the most expensive choice! It will need to be replaced often! The old adage is also true, "you only get what you pay for".

Having established that we are now NOT going to buy the cheapest that we can find, what should we do next? The first step is to decide what type of Garden Furniture that you like. This you can basically separate into two categories:

<b>Metal Garden Furniture & Hardwood Garden Furniture.</b>

<b>Metal Garden Furniture</b>

If you want Metal Garden Furniture, and you want it to last, then you should select Metal Garden Furniture that is <b>ONLY </b>made of Aluminium. The reason for this is that Aluminium does <b>NOT RUST, </b> so will last in all weather conditions. Having decided on Aluminium, you then must look at whether to go for "Cast Aluminium", which is often solid and is made from Aluminium that has been Cast into a mould, or "Framed Aluminium", which although lighter, is normally equally as durable. So if your preference is to have Metal Garden Furniture, selecting any type of quality Aluminium Garden Furniture, you will be sure of getting many years of use from your purchase.

<b>Hardwood Garden Furniture</b>

This is my favourite, because no two pieces are "exactly" the same. The differences in the grain makes each piece unique. It would take a whole book to completely cover "Wooden Garden Furniture", because there are literally thousands of different options.

However after selling Garden Furniture for over ten years, my choice has narrowed right down to only one type, which is <b>"Teak Garden Furniture". </b>

The reason for this is very simple, it is the <b>BEST</b> there is to withstand all types of weather, including the often rainy UK summer climate.
Although it is certainly more expensive that most other types of wood, it is VERY hard wearing and will last for many years, with (or without) any treatment, so really does justifies the higher price. Teak is a natural product, that is from a slow growing hard wood tree. So when you look to buy make sure that you select from a supplier that has Teak Garden Furniture that has been made from "Plantation Grown" Teak, which is a renewable resource, and not from a forest that is being destroyed by de-forestation. Quality Teak Garden Furniture should last for 20 -25 years, so when you compare the life of it, to the cost, it is extremely good value for money.

Water Garden Feature - How To Save On The Pennies And Labour

How you can give a home to natures aquatic life by installing a water garden feature.

Water Garden Feature,water garden feature,pond life,plants and water gardens,iwater feature nstallation,build a watergarden

A Water Garden Feature without doubt is the cherry on the cake giving the ultimate finish to enhance the beauty of a garden or patio - but unfortunately some gardeners are put off because of the work involved with the installation and maintenance of having a water feature. Cost can also hamper the decision of adding a water garden in your courtyard etc.

Expense may not be an issue if you decide on doing the work your self. If you have a good manual at your side when you take on the task then that is the first step in the right direction - follow the instructions accordingly and all should be okay. By chance if you are not DIY minded then you need not worry because Water Garden Features come in all different shapes and sizes thus cutting costs to meet your budget - where you can have an expert fit the fixture.

Small water garden features not only will save on the pennies but will save on the labour also when it comes to the cleaning. And with what you save you can buy different garden novelties.
Combining a fish pond with a water garden has to be carefully planned if plants like the lotus and lily are used; you need to have access to these. Your water garden needs to be approx 16 to 18 inches deep. This is good depth for plants to flourish. Young plants are not dependant on deep water.
How you ornate your water garden feature is entirely up to you but we do not want is to over do it, to much can spoil the appearance.

Water Gardens that host too many plants and shrubs can lose the effect of what you want to inject from the whole project and that is beauty. Shelving is best kept to a minimum if the feature is small - plants can be elevated on to rocks. Shelving is a good idea - it keeps the fish happy providing them with cover from the rays of the hot sun.

Nature comes to the fore from your Water Garden Feature with uninvited guests - what you have to remember water will always attract aquatic life and also children so be careful. Frogs toads and newts will enjoy your water garden feature just as much as you, if not more - so be prepared. There will be the upkeep of the pond/waterfall you have installed - the work involved with the maintenance will not be heavy work if you keep on top.

Installing a water garden feature is not a complicated mission unless you make it one by not having the right tools for the job. Be sure to obtain a good book with details on how to erect and to find the best place to locate the feature. Also do some research on what flowers and plants are suitable? How to clean and maintain a water garden are all important issues you need to know about and last but not least find out what you have to do to meet with the fishes needs and requirements if there is to be any marine life in your pond or pool.

Safety Tip - When next at the garden store purchase your self some netting or mesh so that the Water Garden Feature can be covered in your absence. This is a safety measure for when - CHILDREN ARE AROUND AND YOU ARE NOT.
