If you or someone you love has started to experience hearing loss, than you know firsthand what a great loss hearing loss actually is. As a physician's assistant, I get to work with people all the time who are dealing with the beginning stages of hearing loss.

If you're anything like me, then your hearing is something that you definitely take for granted. You don't think too much about the privilege of being able to hear everything around you because it has simply always been that way. You grow up hearing the voices of the ones you love, the music that you love, and all the other fabulous (and annoying) sounds in the world. Think about all of the smallest sounds that make up the sounds of your day: your turn signal blinking in the car, the keys of your keyboard as you type an email, the coffee pot as it creates your pick-me-up brew, or the sink as the water gets hot. All of these sounds, and so many more, make up the small details of our worlds. Can you imagine dealing with hearing loss and not being able to hear these ordinary things?

We've probably all experienced the temporary hearing loss that comes from having water in our ears or from having a really bad cold. There is nothing like not being able to hear the people around you. Hearing loss, no matter how small or severe, makes communication with people really difficult and frustrating. We rely on our abilities to talk and to hear in every significant relationship in our lives.

Or take your job for example. Regardless of what you do, isn't the ability to hear quite significant to your work? How would you sit through a board meeting or teach a class or make a phone call if you had hearing loss? Once you start to really think about the role of hearing in our lives, you can never deny the privilege and the blessing it really is.

In today's age, there are many ways to battle against hearing loss and to use techonology to restore hearing loss. So if you or someone you know is struggling with the beginning stages of hearing loss, then make an appointment to see your doctor today and see what you can be done to keep your hearing intact. You won't know how valuable hearing is until you lose it, so do what you can do preserve your hearing starting today.

Experience hair loss

Losing your hair can be a confidence-crusher. Sure, you may make jokes about it around your buddies or laugh about it on occasion, but it still bothers you. A healthy head of hair is something we all have at one point, and then to lose it can be tragic and depressing. It alters our appearance greatly. This is why so many men and women are in constant search of products that grow hair back. Rogaine and Propecia are two of the most popular ones currently on the market. I don't even want to guess the capital these two companies bring in each year. When it comes to appearances, people are willing to fork out the bucks. The real question at-hand is; do these products really work to get back your full head of hair?

I'm not going to flat-out lie and say that all hair treatments work miracles. The reality is they don't. Although many individuals are looking to grow hair back, this is sadly a difficult process. Products such as Rogaine only have around a 30 percent success rate. That's not great if you ask me. However, instead of waiting until you're 40 years old with a bald spot up top and growing forehead, why not tackle the issue early on? Why not search for treatments at the first signs of hair loss? This makes more sense to me. In the real world it's easier to keep the dew you have, than to grow hair back. Catch my drift? So, when does the baldness fairy strike? This is different for different people. It can happen in your mid-twenties or not until your mid-forties. Just to give you an idea, many men start to notice around the age of 30. Guess what? This is the perfect time to take preventative steps. Cosmetic companies such as MiN.com carry a line of hair care products to aid you in this battle. These new-age shampoos and conditioners will help you keep the dew you currently have. That's pretty awesome, and definitely something you should think about.

There's no battling genetics. The truth is that some 66 percent of men experience hair loss at one time or another. But even though you can't be certain it won't strike you, you can prevent it with contemporary hair loss solutions. Don't worry about how you will grow hair back in the future. Focus on preventing it now.

Is their a miracle cure for hairloss?

There comes a time in every man’s life when he starts to lose his hair

bald, hairloss, hair

There comes a time in every man’s life when he starts to lose his hair. For some, it can be as early as their twenties or even their teens, while others don’t start to lose any hair at all until their forties or fifties. As it is so widely seen as a sign of old age, however, there is a big social stigma attached to hair loss, which leads people to seek various treatments to get their hair back again.

Hair loss is not always caused by old age, however, as many diseases can also cause people to lose their hair. Although cancer is the most well-known, it is not uncommon to lose some hair after quite minor diseases, or after having surgery. Hair loss is also a side effect of some medicines, such as antidepressants.

So is there a miracle cure for hair loss? Well, not really.

The most common treatments that people try are the creams available in most pharmacies, such as Rogaine. They do cause some extra hair growth, but also tend to make your head very itchy in the process. However, as soon as you stop using it, the hair loss will resume, so keeping your hair could turn out to be very expensive for you.

A cheaper option could be pills like propecia, which has also been proven to work, although only in about half of patients. It must, however, also be taken for the rest of your life if you want to keep your hair until you die.

Hair loss can often also be stopped by simply making some changes in your lifestyle, like eating less fat and trying to avoid stressful situations. In many cases, this is the most effective treatment of all, as so much hair loss is brought on entirely by work-related stress: it’s well worth taking a week off and seeing if you still have the problem after that.

Above all, if you’re trying to treat your baldness, remember the three Ps: patience, proven treatments, and taking pictures.
