Conflict with Partner is one of the major obstacles facing business owners both men and women. Business owners tend to spend countless hours to get their business off the ground and start making profits. Having an angry partner will only cause more anxiety, stress and leave them with an additional obstacle to overcome.

It is important that you maintain a positive attitude towards your business and if your family is working against you, that becomes almost impossible. On the hand, remember not to devote so much time to your business that you completely neglect your family.

So how do you manage such a critical situation?

The key issues are simple yet very effective. Intensive communication and time management are the keys to considerably minimize such conflicts.

Here are some tips to help you maintain a healthy balance:

1. If you are just starting out, ensure that you have an additional source of income such as a part time job to cover your basic living expenses until your online business takes off.

2. Be honest and tell your partner about your desire to succeed, your ambitions and your reasons for running your own business.

3. Explain that setting up and running a business whether online or offline needs a lot of time and effort to get it off the ground before your start to reap the rewards.

4. Explain the benefits of working from home such as saving on rent, travel time and being able to set your own hours.

5. Keep your partner well informed of your business progress, your ups and downs, your tears and joys. Share with them your business stories.

6. Ask for their help, opinion on certain issues, like their opinion on your website design, your sales letter, and your ideas. Make them feel part of your business and their opinion is important to you.

7. Organize your time, share your morning coffee with them, your lunch, and give them your full attention when you are with them… Of course they will get mad if the first thing you do once you wake up in the morning is rush to your PC ignoring them...

8. Don’t be selfish, always put yourself in their shoes, we all need love and attention whether males or females.

9. Set time limits and a work schedule to accommodate your families’ needs, you don’t need to work 24 hours seven days a week.

10. Help with the house chores, look after the kids, especially if your partner is working out side home.

11. Spend your time online ONLY to grow your business even if you have to give up other interesting things for a start. If you have a spare hour, spend it with your partner not surfing the net.

12. No matter how much your love your partner or they love you, one of the reasons that trouble gets initiated is the fact that your are seeing too much of each other especially if your partner is not working, so why not consider renting a small office or share an office with a friend where you can go and work there during the day.

13. Time spent with your partner should be well spent, give them your full attention no matter how busy you are with your business, make a habit of going out together for dinner once a week, or even book a room in a hotel at least once a month (if you are making enough money online, well… you should be if you are spending endless hours on your computer).

14. Once you start making money online ... show them the benefits.

15. Why not consider introducing the online business to your partner, who knows maybe they will be the next online guru.

One last advice and please keep it in your mind:

YOU DONT WANT TO GAIN A BUSINESS AND LOSE A PARTNER OR A FAMILY

How To Balance Working At Home And Raising Your Kids

Most work at home moms start home based businesses because they want to be home with their little ones. And I was no different: I left a great corporate job to be around my two children.

But then, you put a lot of work in your business, and it works! Yes, you are getting orders, and making some money, but the flip side is that you don’t have as much time for your little ones. How do you then balance your time? Do you still put your children first? Or do you go for the "jus...

WAHM, work at home moms, raising great kids, teach kids business basics,

Most work at home moms start home based businesses because they want to be home with their little ones. And I was no different: I left a great corporate job to be around my two children.

But then, you put a lot of work in your business, and it works! Yes, you are getting orders, and making some money, but the flip side is that you don’t have as much time for your little ones. How do you then balance your time? Do you still put your children first? Or do you go for the "just a minute honey!" line and hope they can't tell time?

It happened to me: one day, during my first Christmas season in business, I was busy with an order for 150 gift baskets. It was hard work, and stress was running high. The deadline was approaching, and I had no time to stop to even straighten the room.

There were boxes with product everywhere, there were empty boxes, and there was gourmet food everywhere: a true disaster area! And just then, my 4 year old daughter (now 11) came to me with her big brown eyes in tears: "Mommy, I am bored and I am lonely... Can we play a little?" What could I do? I was alone at home with her, and if I stopped to play, there was no way I could finish my order in time.

So, I thought quickly, on my feet, of how I could play with her and work at the same time. And I came up with the idea of building her an office right next to mine out of used/damages boxes. She was ecstatic! And SHE did all the work! I told her where to go and get the boxes, and made room for her by me desk. She built a desk, improvised a chair, and even had items to sell in her store.

With that in place, I was able to continue my work uninterrupted most of the time. She loved watching and copying me: when I picked up the phone to talk to a customer, she picked up her imaginary phone. When I needed to make a basket, she made one of her own. When I calculated the price for my baskets, she picked up a pencil and calculated her own prices.

In time, her office evolved: the old, damaged boxes were replaced with actual wooden drawers. Inventory I wasn't able to sell became her store's inventory. She even got an adding machine, and a couch. Now, her office is her favorite spot to play. And it's not just an office anymore: it's an entire building with different shops. She has a restaurant, a bath and body store, a book store, and a toy store.

The store has helped her in many ways:

- she learned about maintaining and ordering inventory
- she learned about phone etiquette
- she learned addition and subtraction
- she learned organization skills
- she learned to be creative (little bits and pieces of ribbon, irregular baskets, empty containers have become great assets to her business)

Could YOU be using your business to teach your kids business basics while having fun? I am sure you could. Just take some time and think how your situation can be used to plant some business seeds in your child.

How To Balance Your Home And Business When You Work At Home

Many people desire the ability to work at home. They imagine themselves rolling out of bed, commuting 20 feet without any traffic, except for the occasional pet sleeping in the hallway and starting work in their home office as they sip on their favorite latte. Many people desire the ability to work at home. They imagine themselves rolling out of bed, commuting 20 feet without any traffic, except for the occasional pet sleeping in the hallway and starting work in their home office as they sip on their favorite latte. Without the daily office politics, commute, and water cooler gossip they feel they’ll be more focused and, ultimately, more efficient. However, with this freedom come some unforeseen drawbacks that can affect your stress level. You may find it difficult to keep yourself organized and motivated without the pressures of a boss or management team.

When you work from home and not required to clock in and out at a specific time, you are responsible for your own time management. To keep yourself and your home office organized so you are more productive and have less stress, try the following tips:

1. Keep a separate and specific work area in your home. This can be as simple as setting up a large desk and a small filing cabinet in a quiet room. Make sure you have plenty of lighting. Keep it clean and organized so you can find the materials and supplies you need to do your work.

2. Learn how you are more productive. Identify what type of work environment helps you work at your best. Are you more productive when you’re working at your desk or sitting on the couch? Your home office is your domain. Add personal items and things that help give you a positive attitude to help make you more productive.

3. Schedule specific task. Plan your work schedule by identifying your most productive time and when you have the most energy. If you a morning person and think more clearly in the mornings then do your most difficult and important task during this time. If you have children you may want to begin work after you get them off to school, before they wake up or even during their nap.

4. Set your business hours and adhere to the schedule. Just because you work at home doesn’t mean you can take a break whenever you want because there’s no boss to tell you to get back to work. You must be managing your time by setting your business hours and following them, after all you are your own boss. Also, many people or clients may assume since you work from home you are available 24/7. Avoid interruptions by setting specific office hours when other people can contact you regarding business. Communicate this - put your business hours on your business cards, website, e-mails and voice-mail recording.

5. Plan, negotiate and prioritize. No matter how hard you try, your business and personal lives will collide. Don’t stress out when personal interruptions affect your business life. Learn to detach from your work mode, to focus and address the interruption and resolve it so that you can move forward. Then switch back to work mode and get back to your regular work schedule. Eventually, you will learn to weave in and out between business mode and personal mode throughout the day so their can be a productive balance between work and life when you work at home.
