There are many scare stories in the media about people who got conned and ended up sending cash to people they met online. If you’re new to online dating, though, it may be hard to believe that there are people out there who make a living out of abusing the system and scamming people out of money. Luckily, it’s actually quite easy to stay safe and avoid being scammed. Here is some useful information to refer to ensure a safe online dating experience.

Too good to be true?

As a general rule, if somebody’s profile looks too good to be true, chances are it is.
If you spend any time at all on dating sites, you will have seen them – women who look like underwear models who describe themselves as “God fearing, caring, loving and submissive”. Their hobbies usually involves activities such as cooking and cleaning. The men describe themselves as “honest” and “gentle” and their pictures look just as posed. Their descriptions are usually full of lists of adjectives, obviously taken from a dictionary or a thesaurus, coupled with declarations of wanting to find true love.
You may get messages from people like this, often using overly-affectionate terms straight away and declaring their undying love to you. Usually their level of English would be quite poor. Such messages sound like a dream, but sadly a “relationship” like that is more likely to turn into your worst nightmare. Be very wary. Underwear models and well-off businessmen/male models are not likely to act in this way both online and off!

Never send money

Not all scammers are as obvious as the ones detailed above. Unfortunately, with people becoming wiser, scammers have had to change the way they work. Nowadays, some of the pictures scammers use can look like perfectly normal people.
The telltale sign is usually their actions. A scammer wants your money and sooner or later will try to get it off you by means of a sob story. Usual stories are of women trapped in hotels and needing to pay the bill before they are allowed to leave, stories about owing money to shifty businessmen and stories about wanting to come and meet you in your own country but not having any money.
In all cases, it’s highly advisable to never send money to anyone you’ve just met online and be highly suspicious of sending money even a few months down the line.

Report and ask for advice

Any reputable dating site will have a moderating team in place who are there to keep the site safe. It is in their interest to keep scammers off the site. If someone has approached you and you are not certain whether he/she is a scammer, contact the site moderators and ask. They will not report your question to the other user, but have access to all of that user’s messages, so will be able to tell if the person has been “working” other people at the same time as you. They will also have more experience at dealing with scammers so would be able to spot them quicker.

Be Cautious, be reasonable

Sometimes when you have been chatting to the person you think is your perfect match, it’s easy to ignore the warning signs and refuse to believe this person is trying to con you out of money. This is why you should take extra care and listen to the advice of someone impartial. It’s better to learn the bad news before you part with your money and not after.

How To Set-up A Cash Generating Blog In The Lucrative Online Dating Niche

When I was growing up (a very long time ago now when England were good at sports and the Bee Gees were topping the charts) there was a real TABOO about dating agencies and classified personal ads.

When I was growing up (a very long time ago now when England were good at sports and the Bee Gees were topping the charts) there was a real TABOO about dating agencies and classified personal ads.

Now, the tables have turned. Online Dating Websites are a multi-million dollar a year business. Don’t believe me? Check out these facts:

- In 2004 over $465 million was spent with online dating websites in the U.S. alone (Source: OPA).

- By the start of 2005 there were almost 1,000 popular online dating sites with an established client base. That number is growing rapidly.

- The industry is growing by a staggering 38% per year.
And some more mouth-watering facts from the viewpoint of an information publisher:

- Over a million people are estimated to search “online dating” in the search engines every month.

- Common contextual (Adsense & Others) bids for internet dating keywords commonly fall between the $1 to $4 per click mark.

- Online dating is a good way of entering a niche that’s highly complimentary with Pay Per Lead affiliate programs. This is powerful because with PPL, you get paid every time your prospect fills out a free form or downloads a free eBook. One of the Pay Per Lead programs I’ve found offers a whopping $15 for every one of your viewers that fills out a free form. Others tend to be less, yet still quite attractive.

So, how can you take this interesting research and take action to turn it into a fast revenue stream? Here’s a powerful blueprint to follow:

1. Set-up a quick BLOG on the subject of online dating. You can use a free service like http://wordpress.com to set-up a free blog using their point & click interface. Even newbies can do this without breaking into much of a sweat.

2. Create content on the topic of online dating or get some private label rights content that you can fill up the blog with.

3. Insert your Google Adsense code into your blog pages.

4. Display your Pay Per Lead link on each page (that’s $15 for each prospect that you send to the online dating company).

5. Add in a couple of additional quality affiliate programs that offer a commission for clients that you refer. Better if you can get in on a residual monthly commission (would you rather be paid once, or monthly for a long time?)

6. Write a couple of articles about online dating (or modify your private label articles) and submit them to as many high traffic article directories as possible. This sets you up for a long term stream of f.ree and targeted traffic for months and even years into the future.

The end result? A blog that yields several streams of income – two of which don’t even require your prospects to buy a thing. This is POWERFUL stuff – and if you’re having problems setting up any type of income generating site then this is a simple project to start with.

The Potential?

I don’t like making estimates. But it’s not unrealistic to expect 1,000 visitors a month with article marketing alone. If 1% convert to fill out the free form, you’ve set up a business that spits out $150 per month. But do you know what? With Pay Per Leads the conversion rates are MUCH higher – 10% would be more realistic.

So, how can you start? Do some research, write up content that your prospects would find useful and then find some affiliate programs that you can use. It’s a good, big-money niche that’s paying great dividends for content publishers.

Best of luck!

How To Write Headlines that Get Your Dating Profile Noticed.

How to write headlines that attract attention to your dating profiles

In order for you to get other online daters to stop and read your profile you need to create an attention grabbing opening line, often referred to as a tagline or headline.

Do not underestimate the importance of having a headline. Besides your photo, it is one of the main factors in determining whether another dater will give your profile a second look.

Studies show that if online daters don't find anything to attract their attention in around 10 seconds or less, they move on to something else.

You probably do the same, we all do. Just think about this for a minute: When you read the newspaper or magazine, what draws your attention to a particular article or feature? Yes it's the headline. Its the headline that causes you to either keep reading or move on to another story or article.

Now you may not be consciously aware of this, but your mind filters out information that's not relevant to you, and at the same time you are drawn into information that is relevant and appealing. You are actually drawn in or away by the headline.

Which means your headline has just one job: To stop your reader in their tracks, and force them to read the second sentence of your ad.

There are two ways to apply this simple principle to your profile headline:

1. Using Self Interest Headlines - This type of Headline focuses on benefits that will interest the reader. It telegraphs the benefits that they will receive if they stick around. It is also very effective.

Online daters tend to scan through profile headlines and are only drawn to the ones that offer them a benefit of some sort. Understand that one of the things going through the readers mind is: "what in it for me?" If you can answer that question for them in your headline you will have grabbed their interest. So offer benefits, appeal to your readers desires and emotions and offer to fulfill their needs in your headline.

By doing this you will be able to bypass their mental filtering systems and get their full attention!

2. Using Curiosity Headlines – This type of headline arouses the readers’ curiosity so they are compelled to read further. Asking intriguing questions is a great way for you to achieve this and draw them in. Curiosity is one of the strongest emotive incentives. You should use it, and use it wisely.

When you arouse your readers curiosity, they will be compelled to read further into your profile. If you write with passion and emotion your readers will feel it to. Try to create the exact energy of what you want.

A great headline is not always about you. Remember this; your readers won’t really give a damn about exactly what you are looking for or how tall or blonde you are unless it gratifies them to do so. You want to give them instant gratification. Give it to them with your headline.

A powerful headline takes advantage of your readers curiosity. Appeal to their emotions and watch your responses grow.

Here are a few guidelines on what to avoid.

1. Avoid anything with sexual connotations or innuendos like "sex goddess" or " great in bed"

2. Avoid obvious statements like "looking for true love" or "looking for soul-mate"

3. Avoid anything un-imaginative like "hi, I'm Gemma" or "hello, my name is Wayne"

4. Avoid pleading headlines like "please read my profile" or "please don't ignore me"

5. Avoid anything negative like "losers don't apply" or "no liars please"

When you take the above guidelines into consideration you will greatly increase the chances of your profile actually getting read!
