Things To Do On Long Driving Trips

Whether you’re going on Holiday, Vacation & Tour, visiting family or friends, or you just want to see the sights, a long driving trip can be fun for everyone. Many of us are so anxious to get where we’re going, we forget that the joy is in the journey.

Whether you’re going on Holiday, Vacation & Tour, visiting family or friends, or you just want to see the sights, a long driving trip can be fun for everyone. Many of us are so anxious to get where we’re going, we forget that the joy is in the journey.

Listen to Audio Books

Since many people tend to get a little car sick when they read in the car, an audio book is the perfect replacement. With a moderately priced Mp3 player, you can easily carry several audio books with you no matter where you. You can listen to it yourself, or choose something everyone will enjoy to play throughout the car. You can buy audio books in three formats – digital Mp3s, CDs or cassette tapes (although cassettes are getting to be a bit outdated).

Sing Songs

Most people are embarrassed to sing in front of others because we all don’t have beautiful voices, but when everyone sings together, half the fun is listening to everyone’s off-tone voice and the forgotten words to the song. One thing that’s guaranteed, when you sing songs on a long driving trip, those songs will forever be remembered fondly, and great memories will be created.

Talk

I know…I know…Talking seems like an obvious thing to do on a long drive, but you’d be surprised how very few people actually do it. These days it seems any child twelve and under has a portable game like Gameboy or PSP, and teenagers have ear buds permanently attached to their head with the latest music streaming from their iPods, or the incessant text messaging through the “required” cell phones for everyone in the family. All of these distractions make it difficult for families to really “talk”.

So why not take this time on the road to turn off all the electronic devices and talk to each other – about anything. If you’re going on a family Holiday, Vacation & Tour, perhaps you all list the top 3 things you’re looking forward to doing on Holiday, Vacation & Tour. You can also make up questions that everyone has to answer – like “If I could go anywhere in the world, I would go to…”, “If I could go to lunch with any famous person I would want to meet…”, or “The three things I want to do before I’m 65 are…”. These kinds of statements help you get to know things about your friends and family you never would have known otherwise, and it starts fun conversations too!

Car Games

Most of us at one point in our lives have taken part in a car game which usually involves the alphabet, looking for items along the trip, or a good memory. Here are a few car games to get you started, but you can always make up your own.

License Plate Game – See how many different state and country license plates you can spot on your trip.

20 Questions – One person states if they are a person, place or thing. Then the other people in the car can ask up to 20 yes or no questions to try and figure out what they are.

My Father Owns a Grocery Store – The first person says “My father owns a grocery store and in it he sells apples”, then the next person follows by saying “My father owns a grocery store and in it he sells apples, and bananas”. The game continues going through the whole alphabet. They must say the entire list of items previously said by other people and then add their own item at the end. If someone gets stumped on the list of items, they are out and the remaining people continue.

These are just some of the fun things you can do on a long driving trip. Remember to make the journey fun, light, and full of memories!

San Francisco offers a wide variety of attractions for the locals, visitors and tourists. The possibility of things to do in the city seems to be endless. However, the “Top Things to do” in San Francisco involves visits at the waterfront, around town, and on the city’s ocean and bay fronts.

One spectacular sight at the Waterfront of San Francisco is the “Golden Gate Bridge” the most photographed sight in the world. It stretches 4,200 feet with a towering height compared to a 65 story building. A walk at the bridge is one of the most enjoyable things to do.

Another popular sight of San Francisco’s Waterfront is the Alcatraz, a former prison for the notorious criminals. The interesting part to do at this place is the self-walking guided tour through the aid of headphones that narrates the whole story of about Alcatraz.

Half a dozen blocks along the Waterfront are the Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier39, and Ghirardelli Square. Simply walking along the streets, your attention will be caught by some entertaining performers. The street also has plenty of tempting souvenir shops and great seafood restaurants.

Around the town of San Francisco is Union Square – the third largest shopping area in the United States. It is a fabulous place to shop for clothes, art works and items for your home – but make sure that you have enough money because prices are quite expensive.

A must see attraction in San Francisco is the “Crookedest Street in the World” or simply Lombard Street. Watching the vehicles make their curves as they go down the crooked street is a great a attraction and a marvel to the eye. Others have said that it is much more interesting to experience the crooked section of the street by riding or driving a car.

San Francisco also has many places for antiques that you can visit. One of these places is the Cliff House where you can find the Camera Obscura that was invented by Leonardo Da Vinci. The Cliff House is also a very nice place for a drink because it offers excellent views of the Pacific Ocean and Seal Rock.

The place in San Francisco where there’s always something to do is at North Beach. North Beach is full of activities, but most involve eating. The area has tons of cafe’s, restaurants, delicatessens, and bakeries for you to choose from.

There are other plenty of things that you can do in San Francisco…the possibilities here are truly endless.

Lima, is the capital and largest city of Peru. It is located in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers; on a desertic coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

In general, Flashbooking guides have been written for giving the essential information about the most visited cities in the world and in particular for any traveller or first-time visitor.

It forms a contiguous urban area with the seaport of Callao.

Lima was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535, as the City of the Kings.

For a short visit, a week-end, a city break, these free pocket guides are useful printable and downloadable tools available online.

It became the most important city in the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru and, after the Peruvian War of Independence, the capital of the Republic of Peru.

In the Lima City guide students, families and backpackers can get a large selection of cheap or low cost accommodation with plenty of low cost solutions in budget youth hostels, bed and breakfast Lima, guesthouses, cheap hotel deals.

Today around one-third of the Peruvian population lives in its metropolitan area.

Flashbooking policy tends to privilege small and family-run hotels in order to promote an alternative tourism respectful of cultures and different societies.

The location of the city was decided at Epiphany (January 6), the day of the Three Kings, and Francisco Pizarro named it Ciudad de los Reyes.

Flashbooking chose to provide backpackers, students and families with a list of budget selected and independent accommodations worldwide, mostly run by locals, in order to promote an alternative tourism respectful of cultures and different societies.

Lima, its original name, however, persisted. It is uncertain where the name originated; it may derive either from the Aymara word lima-limaq, or from Quechuan rimaq.

For this and other reasons Flashbooking is becoming a recognized source of information and services for who loves creating a trip by him/herself and book bed nights securely online.

In the oldest Spanish maps of Peru, Lima and Ciudad de los Reyes can be seen together as names of the city.

Flashbooking's happy travellers can book their rooms and beds not only in cheap hotels or cheap hostel Lima but also consider other budget accommodations in Bed and Breakfast, Guesthouses, Campsites, apartments, farm houses and much more.

The river that feeds Lima is still called Rimac, Quechua for "Talking river".

Flashbooking accommodation database is easily available online and comes completed with all relevant information about youth hostel and hotel location and map, description, services, hostel contacts, customer ratings, six pictures and updated prices inclusive of taxes and services together with instant real availability.

Having the reservation final price is also convenient as it does give the transparency our users pretend while booking. Having the final total amount of your booking means you do not have to worry about other extra surprises!

So mates, we are looking forward to finding you THE budget accommodation that meets your needs and pocket for your next trip! Last but not least, if you wish to help us, you can either give your personal ratings of some accommodations, lodgings, bed and breakfast, youth hostels and budget small hotels where you stayed, or enlarging the hostel offer by reporting some new hostel contacts!
