Altea is located fifteen kilometres north of Benidorm. This is one of the few villages on the Costa Blanca that has kept the fishing village feeling. They have created a tourist area without sacrificing the natural beauty of the surrounding area.

This village offers a tranquil atmosphere that is more relaxing and quiet than the larger cities in the area. The weather is mild in the summer and winter. The surrounding hills keep the temperature comfortable in the summer months and keep out the cold winds in winter.

Travel and Accommodations in Altea

Most visitors take a flight into the Alicante airport. The airport is located about an hour drive away from the village. You can get a car hire at the airport for transportation. Buses and trains are available from Alicante to Altea.

Just outside the village is the mountain area, which offers a beautiful view. Real estate is growing in this area. There are new hotels and apartments. This is a great place to stay for a quiet, relaxing Holiday, Vacation & Tour.

Villa or apartment rentals are available in the village for a more private Holiday, Vacation & Tour experience. This offers more flexibility, privacy and a relaxing atmosphere. Consider a villa with a pool for a summer Holiday, Vacation & Tour. Most owners rent directly to tourists. This saves money on a travel agent. Rentals can be found on the internet.

Altea Attractions

Altea is one of the most beautifully landscaped areas in the region. The tranquillity of the area attracts Spanish and international writers and painters. Some stay for short periods and others live in the area all year. Most stay in the area surrounding the old church.

The village is home to a famous church, Nuestra Senora Del Consuelo. The church was built in 1910. The design is Mediterranean style architecture. The tiles are all hand painted with old world craftsmanship. The blue dome roof is a landmark in the area.

The village has a nice harbour with restaurants and bars. The restaurants offer great seafood and authentic Spanish cuisine. In many of these restaurants, you can sit outside on terraces overlooking the sea. The beach area is 5 kilometres long. This is great place to relax and soak up the sun.

A little away from the beach and harbour area are a variety of quaint stores for shopping. Most shops are open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Many break for afternoon siesta from 2 p.m. until 4 or 5 p.m. and then re open. Some of the larger stores remain open all day.

A walking tour is the best way to experience Altea close up. Walking tours are available in the town and surrounding mountain areas. The mountain walking tours are a great way to enjoy nature in a tranquil atmosphere. You can take a private tour or a guided walking tour of the many trails around the village. All inclusive tours are available for a few days to a week.

A craft market is open in Altea from Easter through September. The market is located near the harbour area. Local crafts people offer a variety of items for sale at the market. You can get beautiful hand made items at a reasonable price here.

The sun and mild temperatures are popular for golf Holiday, Vacation & Tours as well. The Altea Golf Club offers a great course for visitors.

If you want to experience night life or more populated tourist attractions, take a day trip to Benidorm. This larger city is close enough to the village for day trips by car or train. Benidorm is home to water parks, theme parks and night clubs.

Try Costa Blanca For Your Next Trip

If you want to visit one of the best tourist destinations in Spain, then you must visit costablanca, Spain. This region is located on the Mediterranean coast and is renowned for its gorgeous beaches. You can enjoy a mild Mediterranean climate that include hot and dry summers accompanied by mid and pleasant winters. Summertime is the most visited time of year, but you can visit at almost any time of year and have a great time.

Decide where you’d like to go on your trip and then start your research about those individual spots. Do you want a larger city like Torrevieja, Benidorm, or Alicante where you can have a great nightlife, attraction parks, and amazing historical sights or would you prefer a smaller town? Denia and Altea are two quiet places that offer relaxation and still have great weather for you to enjoy. Pick out what you would like to do on your Holiday, Vacation & Tour and you’ll have an even better time.

The most common way to get to Costa Blanca is to use the airport in Alicante. This is a big airport and you can choose from many different flights including some from major discount airliners. If you use this airport you can have more choices in terms of flight options and times than if you use a smaller airport. If you want to get the best deal for your money than you’ll need to book your tickets well in advance, this is especially true if you want to visit Costa Blanca during the summer.

If you do go with a low fair airline than you might give up some of the amenities that you look for in a regular rate airline. For instance you many not be offered snacks and you also may not be able to bring as many kilos in terms of baggage. Sometimes you can’t get the direct connections that you get from a more expensive airliner. Try flying in the off-season to save even more money.

Once you hit Costa Blanca you can decide on how you will handle land transportation in Spain. If you just want to stay in a confined area than you can probably depend on public transport to get you to and from the beach and around town. If you want to see more of the coast then try renting a car or using the local train and bus networks to get a better view of this region.

Of course renting a car will offer you the most flexibility in your travels. You can rent a car at the airport and return it at the airport when you go home. This is helpful because you can choose when you want to go and where without depending on anyone else’ schedule. You can also get the opportunity to explore some of the more remote regions when you have your own car.

Visiting The Costa Blanca All Year Round

No matter what the season, Murcia is always a wonderful place to visit. Like all of the cities along the Costa Blanca, the weather is relatively mild all year round. Special natural blessings help to keep the average temperature of the Costa Blanca around 65 degrees Fahrenheit (18 Celsius). These blessings include the warm ocean breezes crossing the Mediterranean from Africa and mountains to the west that protect the area from the cold air of the rest of Europe.

The temperatures drop a little during the winter months, but still stay at a temperate 50 degrees Fahrenheit, 10 Celsius. Warm enough to golf, hike or do many other outdoor activities. A light sweater is all you will need during the day, and a jacket at night when it gets a little cooler.

The fall is one of the most times for Murcia weather. Many tourists are gone, so you can enjoy the sights and attractions without the crowds, but still be comfortable with temperatures in the 75 degree range (24 Celsius). Even the water is kind enough to stay warm so late season Holiday, Vacation & Tourers can still swim.

You will decide that there is no bad time to visit Murcia and the Alicante. You can't ask for more than predictable, consistent weather ranging from 50 degrees in the winter to 75 degrees in the spring.

What do you pack for your trip to Murcia? One thing for sure, don't leave your bathing suit home.

The sun is almost always out, so you will also want a light cover up for on the beach.

Pack a light jacket for almost any time of year, and then add a few layers if you are traveling in fall or winter.

Don't forget about the consistent sunshine, it's a blessing on Holiday, Vacation & Tour, but you do have to be careful of your skin. Wear a hat with a brim, as well as sunscreen.

Since there is so much to see and do in Murcia, you will want to have a pair of comfortable walking shoes along on your trip. The city is made for walking and sightseeing, and you can always take your shoes off for those long jaunts along the beach. If you forget any of these items, don't let it bother you. There are many lovely shops in the downtown area where you can buy your essentials reasonably.

What not to pack? An umbrella! The average rainfall in Murcia is a paltry 3 cm a month. You may get as much as 6 cm in the fall or winter, but just duck into a museum if you hit a rainy day.
