Visit The Kennedy Space Center During Your Orlando Holiday, Vacation & Tour

If you’re bringing your family to Orlando you will no doubt visit Disney World and the other theme parks in the area, but why limit yourself to theme parks, when you can also visit the fascinating and educative Kennedy Space Center located at historic Cape Canaveral? Here is a brief guide to some of the attractions currently on offer at the Kennedy Space Center.

Meet an Astronaut

The center has arranged for various astronauts to meet visitors and talk about their missions in space. Astronauts from the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Shuttle programs are scheduled to take part throughout the year.

Simulated Shuttle Launch

If you want to get an idea of what an astronaut feels during liftoff, then the Space Center’s launch simulator is the best way to do it. The room vibrates and roars and when the engines shutdown participants get to view the earth, as astronauts see it when they reach their orbit.

Early Space History

This is a walk through exhibit showing the background of today’s space program. One of the highlights is the actual control panel which was used to guide the astronauts of the Mercury and Gemini space programs. Mercury and Gemini capsules are also on display.

Viking Mars Mission

In 1976 a U.S. unmanned craft landed on Mars and took the first pictures of the red planet’s surface. This exhibit takes you on that journey and visitors also can see and touch a piece of Mars as well (in the form of meteorite that fell to earth many years ago).

IMAX 3D Theater

With the help of giant screens, five stories high, you are taken on an awesome journey into space. The films contain dramatic footage taken by astronauts during their space missions and you get a feeling that you are right there with them.

Saturn 5 Center

The Saturn 5 was the huge rocket that took astronauts to the moon and back in the early 1970s. Featuring an actual 363-foot, 6.2 million pound Saturn V moon rocket, this exhibit takes you on a trip to the moon with a recreation of the first Apollo mission to the moon. There is also a hands-on exhibit.

LC 39 Observation Gantry

This is a 60 foot tower which will give you a great view of the space shuttle launch pads. There is also an on-the-ground exhibition which includes films of the Shuttle program, showing the actual process used to launch a Shuttle into space.

Space Center Guided Tour

This is a bus ride all around the Kennedy Space Center. It stops at the important places and the bus tours depart each day (except Christmas Day and certain launch days) beginning at 9:30 a.m., and leave continuously throughout the day, with the last bus leaving approximately four hours before closing.

The Space Shop

Are you fascinated by space memorabilia? Then this is the place for you. The Center’s gift shop has more than 8,000 space-related items that make perfect souvenirs or additions to your serious space collection.

This is only just a small part of what you can see at the Kennedy Space Center, so if you want to treat your kids to an out of this world experience be sure to add it to your list of “must-see” places when you make your next Florida Holiday, Vacation & Tour.

Wildlife And Outer Space In Orlando

So, time for your annual holiday. And everyone in the family wants to do something fun, but maybe not the same thing. It’s more than likely that you don’t want to go to three or four places to satisfy everyone, nor to split up the family into different Holiday, Vacation & Tour spots.

The answer? Orlando.

So, time for your annual holiday. And everyone in the family wants to do something fun, but maybe not the same thing. It’s more than likely that you don’t want to go to three or four places to satisfy everyone, nor to split up the family into different Holiday, Vacation & Tour spots.

The answer? Orlando.

Indeed, rarely has such a small city packed such a punch for giving the Holiday, Vacation & Tourer more than they ever bargained for.

There is of course Disneyworld for starters. More than a few families have found that place diverse enough fun enough for everyone in the family for their whole Holiday, Vacation & Tour.

I can almost hear you saying: “So, that’s one famous theme park. But we’ve got a whole Holiday, Vacation & Tour and don’t want to be driving everywhere to find some variety and some great fun. Oh well, maybe we’ll just go to New York or to California…”

Well, before you do something that drastic, let me tell you more about Orlando. You want theme parks? How about the seven world class theme parks in Orlando? Not to mention three water parks. And dozens of other classy attractions. One commentator claims that you would need 67 days to take in all of Orlando’s attractions.

So, let me tell you about some of them.

How about Gatorland for instance? Why a park devoted to these fearsome alligators and crocodiles? Well this isn’t Iowa and there are a huge amount of these reptiles in the Florida swamps. This 110-acre theme park and wildlife preserve is home to thousands of crocodiles and alligators; and though Orlando is a most friendly city, these ‘hosts’ at Gatorland may give you a bit more of a scare than you bargained for. Besides ‘gators and crocs, you’ll also find here an aviary, a petting zoo, a nature walk and reptilian shows such as Gator Wrestling, Jungle Crocs of the World, and more.

Educational offerings include viewing the breeding process and other wildlife programs.

Another famous attraction is Busch Gardens, in Tampa Bay, about an hour drive from Orlando. The gardens are a fair distance from the hustle and bustle of Orlando, and easy to get to, which is a selling point for some tourists.

Busch Gardens brings the wonders of Africa close to home. There are more than 2,000 animals here, in a natural setting, though some of the thrills for both kids and adults include a roller-coaster ride and the Sky Ride cable car, with an excellent view of the park. The park also features the Serengeti Railway. There is also the Haunted Lighthouse, which is a 4D show for kids over seven. You can see KaTonga, a musical celebrating African fables, and the tomb of King Tut of Egypt. We can also recommend the rides at the Land of the Dragon. And don’t worry; you don’t have to hunt for your meals, as there is a wide range of dining at the Gardens.

Changing directions quite a bit, Kennedy Space Center invites you to embark on “Mankind’s Ultimate Journey”.

Just 45 minutes from Orlando NASA’s launch headquarters is located on a huge island wildlife refuge. In fact, it’s about eight times the size of Manhattan.

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex gives you a rare opportunity to tour NASA’s launch and landing facilities. You can get a feel for space travel with their interactive simulators and live shows. Have you seen space rockets on TV or in the movies? Well, here you can see how big they really are. You can also meet a real member of NASA’s Astronaut Corps

Enough for a few days? Keep in touch and we’ll tell you a lot more about a city that’s bound to be one of your favorite Holiday, Vacation & Tour spots for a long time to come.

Gatorland, A Wildlife Attraction Awaits You In Orlando

If you are fascinated by the tropical wildlife of Florida and want to see it at firsthand, then Gatorland is the place for you to visit the next time you Holiday, Vacation & Tour in Orlando. This park calls itself the alligator capital of the world, and it rightly deserves this title. Here is a brief guide to what you can expect when you visit there.

First of all, Gatorland is located on Hwy 441 at the Orlando-Kissimmee line in South Orlando. Only 15-20 minutes away from Walt Disney World®, Sea World® and the Orlando International Airport the park is open daily 9:00 am until 6:00 pm.

The park is a combines the features of a zoo and wildlife preserve with the entertainment of a theme park. You can see alligators in the wild at the Alligator Breeding Marsh, ten acres of natural habitat populated with 100 female and 25 male gators and get a birds-eye view from a three-story observation tower.

You can get a closer look at these critters by attending the various shows at the park. A popular event is the Gator Jumparoo Show. Here is how the park describes it: “Thrills and chills abound as some of the largest alligators in the world actually jump four to five feet out of the water to retrieve food in this famous one-of-a-kind show. Watch as giant alligators jump high enough out of the water to actually snatch food from the trainer's hand.”

The show also has educative value as you will learn more about the alligators and crocodiles and their capabilities.

Another exciting attraction is the Alligator Wrestlin’ show which is held an 800 seat stadium. Gator wranglers catch 6-8 feet alligators by hand, climbing on the back to point out survival features to the audience. After doing stunts that only a few are brave (or foolish) enough to try, the alligator is rolled over and put to sleep...only to be awakened by a tickle!

Alligators are not the only attraction of this park; the snakes of Florida are also on display. Another show features the bloodcurdling rattle of the diamondback , the hiss of the powerful moccasin, the sneaky, deadly little corals. The park says that “this show will help you get over your fears of Florida's most misunderstood species!”

Another popular feature of the park is Lilly's Pad a new Mini-Waterpark where kids of all ages can cool off and dip their feet in the water.

If you enjoy nature walks the park is quie large and its Swamp Walk is a unique nature walk through a native cypress swamp. While waking keep your eyes open for Florida wildlife, birds, and other swamp critters.

Allie's Barnyard is a petting zoo with baby animals who love to be petted and fed! And speaking of petting, you can also get up close and hold a python and a snake and get your photo taken too.

As you can see, there are plenty off attractions at Gatorland and you can plan to spend about three hours here. Bring your camera, some water and snacks and enjoy the afternoon or morning at one of Orlando’s stand-out Holiday, Vacation & Tour spots.
